This stage of the care management process cannot be emphasized enough. It is tremendously helpful to plan ahead and at the same time, this can be very difficult for children to do with their parent(s).
A care manager can be a valuable resource of information and referrals as well as helping you establish a long-term plan of care based on the unique situation and wishes of the client.
Some of the common questions people have include:
What is the difference between Medi-Cal and Medicare?
What does Medi-cal cover and how does one become eligible?
What is the cost of assisted living?
Does Medi-Cal or Medicare cover any costs for assisted living facilities or nursing homes?
How can we finance long-term care?
Is a reverse mortgage an option and why would we ever choose that as as option?
Can we afford to “age-in-place” or would it be better to move to an assisted living facility?
Our care management will assist with analyzing your unique situation and provide the necessary resources, referrals, and coordination of your long term care plan so that you know what it will cost; what the options are; and what the best decision is for your family.
Testimonial
"All I can say is that you have helped our family beyond measure, and we have been so lucky to have found you when we did. As a result of your interventions, our parents' situation has stabilized and we can get back to our jobs and personal family life. We don't really know what would have happened without your service to this crisis that cropped up so suddenly. Thank you so much for all that you have done for us."
Costs of Long-term Care
When it comes to long-term health care, many Americans incorrectly assume that Medicare, supplemental policies or standard health insurance policies will cover the expenses. Consequently, many people do not plan ahead financially to provide for their care in the event of infirmity or extended illness. Costs of services provided by a nursing facility vary based on the state in which you live.
Long term care costs in California increased as much as 44 percent over the past 5 years. One year in a private nursing home in San Francisco costs $100,101.
Costs for residing in an assisted living facility average $36,000 annually, but will cost much more in urban settings or if a resident needs a high level of services. In the San Francisco bay area, assisted living facilities costs are $56,000-100,000 annually. (Click for Reuters Article with Long Term Care Costs )
